EA: Consumer of Worlds

Electronic Arts like is the Galactus of the gaming industry, but instead of worlds it devours companies…for now. Or perhaps a more fitting example would be the Borg, where if you are a company in the video game industry, you can only expect that resistance is futile and you will eventually end up as a part of EA. With recent acquisitions like Criterion for Burn Out and publishing rights for Time Splitters 3 and Odd World Stranger, there is no end in sight.

In this regard, EA draws parallels to Katamari Damaci, the quirky game where you roll around a ball that grows as objects stick to it. As EA grows bigger, it has the ability for bigger and bigger deals, such as the recent NFL exclusivity rights and purchasing 20% of rival Ubisoft. If I woke up one day to find out that my nemesis owned 20% of me, I’d be pretty pissed off.

Credit for this comic idea goes to my friend Jeff. I have already called him a bastard for suggesting an idea that requires an absurd amount of detail compared to two characters.
